How can I tell the age of a Sanyo heat pump or air conditioner from the serial number?
Thursday, April 23, 2020
The 6th digit of Sanyo’s 7-digit serial number on the data plate is the year of manufacture, but not the decade. So, for example, 0247381 could be 1998, 2008, or 2018. Fortunately, the year of manufacture may also be listed directly on the data plate, shown as “Mfr. Date” or “Production Date.” If not, then use the condition of the unit to evaluate which decade in which it was manufacted.
