Foyers that are not part of a hallway and are greater than 60 square feet should have a receptacle outlet on each wall space that is 3 feet or more in width, according to the National Electrical Code [NEC 201.52(I)]. Doorways, door-side windows that extend to the floor, and similar openings are not considered wall space.
