Chimney Installed At Homesite
Mobile home manufacturers leave off the chimney pipe and cap due to the highway height restrictions of the Department of Transportation, so the fireplace chimney must be installed at the homesite by the mobile home installer, who will also place the storm collar, sealed with asphalt cement.
Must Be Minimum 3 Feet Above Roof
The chimney must extend a minimum of 3 feet above the high side of where it penetrates the roof and be at least 2 feet higher than any surface within 10 feet. This is a building code requirement for any chimney, including site-built homes, and is intended to assure sufficient air flow to avoid downdraft problems.
