Laundry gurus on the internet disagree about whether hot water gets clothes cleaner. Some say that the new detergents work just fine in cold water, while others insist that “the hotter the water, the more effective the detergent will be.” We are not going to try to settle that argument, but you should know that both the Florida Building Code (FBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) require hot and cold water service to the washing machine in a home. Here’s what the code says:
