How old is my water heater?
Wednesday, October 24, 2018
The year a water heater was manufactured is encoded in the serial number at the data plate on the side or top of the water heater. It is typically the first two, or second two, numbers in the sequence, or may be a letter—all of which requires referring to serial number code list specific to that manufacturer. We have a blog post explaining how to interpret the serial number for each of most brands. To check for your water heater, look for the brand name in the list at our blog post How do I determine the age of my water heater? and click on it to go to a page with instructions.
